Regional earthquake risk measurement survey

Updated: December 10, 2024

Based on the Tokyo Metropolitan Earthquake Disaster Countermeasures Ordinance, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government conducts a survey approximately every five years, incorporating the latest data on buildings and other changes in urban areas, as well as new knowledge. The latest survey shows the risk of earthquakes in each region as "risk of building collapse," "risk of fire," and "overall risk," which is calculated by multiplying these by a coefficient for the difficulty of activities during a disaster, and divides the degree of risk into five ranks for a relative assessment.
