"Jumping Boy" has arrived! (Traffic safety)
Updated: May 24, 2018
A symbol of traffic safety, "Hoppy boy"
It is said that the origin of jumping boy was produced by the proposal of the Social Welfare Council in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture.
It became a hot topic in TV news features before.
We have newly installed them in two locations in Inagi City to promote traffic safety for drivers.
Installation location
- Near the pedestrian crossing at 1628 Hyakumura (Koyodai Koen-dori, near Whip)
- Near the pedestrian crossing at 3-7-1 Hirao
Hirao 3-chome 7-1
1628 Hyakumura
Talk about traffic safety From the Chief of Traffic Safety
According to the Road Traffic Act, when approaching a crosswalk, drivers must proceed at a speed that allows them to stop in front of the crosswalk, and if there are pedestrians crossing the street, they must proceed at a speed that allows them to stop in front of the crosswalk. It stipulates that you must stop temporarily and do not obstruct pedestrian traffic.
Unfortunately, however, the reality is that many cars do not stop even when there are pedestrians crossing the road, making it difficult for pedestrians to cross the road.
Originally, this is not good.
This time, the purpose of installing the "Jibutsuboya" signboard near the crosswalk is to install it in conjunction with the crosswalk sign to remind people that there is a crosswalk and that they must stop if there is a pedestrian crossing the street. This is to draw attention to.
If you are driving and see someone trying to cross at a crosswalk, stop and give priority to pedestrians.
Crosswalks are sanctuaries for pedestrians.
When an accident involving a pedestrian occurs on a crosswalk, it is often determined that the driver of the car is at fault.
Please drive safely and enjoy your Inagi life.
