No. 1 Half a year after taking office

　Hello, this is Katsuhiro Takahashi, the mayor. He was elected as the 4th Mayor of Inagi in the unified local elections held in April of this year. It has already been half a year since I took office, and I have decided to start posting regular columns in the City Public Relations. I have returned to my basics and am humbled by the heavy responsibility I have as a leader.
Since joining Inagi City Hall in 1985, I have worked in the local government close to everyone for 26 years. During this time, there has been a major shift from the traditional centralized administrative system to a decentralized administrative system, and we have been working hard at the forefront of citizen services that are opening up a decentralized society.
In order for Inagi City to further develop into the future, it is important to conserve nature and greenery, create beautiful landscapes, promote volunteering and citizen collaboration, revitalize the local community, and renew bonds between citizens. I think. In general, human relationships tend to weaken with urbanization, but in Inagi City, there are still some areas where traditional ties remain. On the other hand, some people are working towards creating new communities in areas such as new towns and land readjustment areas.
I think common issues in the region can be summarized as crime prevention, disaster prevention, environment, and welfare issues. I believe that ``people-to-people connections and local power'' will be an important element in solving all of these problems.
In order to develop the city while maintaining sound finances, it is necessary to work on administrative reform and reduction of unnecessary and non-urgent expenditures, aiming for sustainable welfare, medical care, and education. While leveraging Inagi's treasure of ``regional power,'' we will promote local government management that values ​​the citizen's perspective and do our best to build ``Inagi, a city of citizens surrounded by greenery and filled with friendship.''
