It is no longer necessary to present a tax payment certificate at the time of vehicle inspection for light vehicles (excluding motorcycles).
Last updated: January 10, 2023
From January 2023, the “Light Vehicle Tax Payment Confirmation System (Light JNKS)” will start.
When Kei JNKS starts, payment can be confirmed at light motor vehicle inspection associations nationwide, so in principle, "presentation of tax payment certificate" at the reinspection window at the time of vehicle inspection will not be required. However, small two-wheeled vehicles (displacement over 250cc) are not eligible, so a certificate of tax payment must be presented.
In the following cases, a "paper tax payment certificate" may be required as before.
If the payment information is not registered in Kei JNKS because it has just been paid (it takes about 1 to 2 weeks to confirm the payment information)
If the target vehicle has a past unpaid payment
Immediately after a name change (purchase of a used car, etc.)
If you have just moved in from another municipality
