Due to the revision of the Road Traffic Law from July 1, 2020, traffic rules for specified small motorized bicycles (e.g. electric kickboards) will be changed. As a result, it has become possible to issue signs (license plates) that fit within the width of the vehicle.
Owners of vehicles that meet all certain requirements are liable to pay light vehicle tax (classified) regardless of whether or not they drive on public roads. If you own an applicable vehicle, please apply to the city and receive a sign (license plate).
Additionally, if you already own a vehicle that meets the requirements and have your old sign registered, you can exchange it for a new sign.
Note: Replacing the sign may require you to change your automobile liability insurance. Please check with your insurance company.
If you own a specified small motorized bicycle (electric scooter) that meets all of the following requirements, please complete the procedure for issuing a license plate.
When riding a specified small motorized bicycle (electric scooter) on public roads, it must meet the following safety standards.
