Transfer notification

You will need to submit a notification of your move.
Note: If you are moving from overseas and are staying for a short period of time, you cannot register as a resident.
 
The moving-in procedure takes time. If you apply near the end of the reception hours, the procedure may not be completed on the same day. Please submit your moving-in notification by 4:00 p.m.

Note: Changes in resident registration for households that include foreign residents cannot be processed at the branch office. Please come to the Citizens' Affairs Division on the first floor of City Hall.

Note: The power of attorney must be signed or signed and stamped by the person in question.

What you need for notification

Moving in from Japan

(1) Moving-out certificate (issued at the city, town or village office of your previous address. Not required for those who submitted a moving-out notification using their My Number card or Basic Resident Registration card, or those who submitted a moving-out notification online.)
(2) Identification documents of the person making the notification
(3) Individual Number Cards of all new residents (if you have one)
(4) Basic Resident Registration Card (only if you have one)
(5) Residence cards, special permanent resident certificates, etc. (for all foreign residents who have moved)
 
Note: You will need to change your address and other procedures for your My Number Card. Please see the page "Changing and continuing use of My Number Card (Personal Number Card) information (changing your address, etc.)" for what you need to bring and how to proceed .
Note: For procedures to change your address on your Basic Resident Registration Card, please see the "Continued Use of Basic Resident Registration Card" page.

Moving in from overseas (moving overseas)

(1) Passports (with a stamp of the date of entry for all people transferring)
(2) A copy of your family register and a copy of your family register attachment (listing all Japanese nationals who have been transferred)
(3) Individual Number Cards for all people moving in (if you have one)
(4) Residence cards, special permanent resident certificates, etc. (for all foreign residents who have moved)
(5) Documents proving the relationship to the head of the household (for all foreign residents who have moved)
Documents to prove relationship (Examples) Original documents issued by a national institution such as birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc. (with translation)
 
Note: If your passport does not have a stamp with the date of entry and you are using the automated gates, please also bring an airline ticket stub or luggage tag showing your date of entry .
Note: If you have used your My Number Card overseas , you will need to change your address, etc. Please see the "Changes to information on your My Number Card (Personal Number Card) and continued use (change of address, etc.)" page for what you need to bring and how to proceed.

Possible date and time for procedures

8:30am to 5pm on business days. Note: 8:30am to 11:45am and 1pm to 5pm on holiday days.
Note: Only City Hall is open on holidays.

Exceptions for notification of moving in (persons with My Number Card or Basic Resident Registration Card)

If you have submitted a moving-out notification using your My Number Card (personal number card) or Basic Resident Registration Card, special provisions for moving-in notification will be applied. For more information, please check the "Special Cases for Notification of Moving In" page.
