This system aims to correct the imbalance in cost sharing between workplace health insurance and national health insurance, as retirees will enroll in national health insurance when their medical needs increase.
Medical expenses for those eligible for the retiree medical care system are covered by retirees' National Health Insurance taxes and contributions from employee health insurance. Therefore, if you go to the doctor without completing the procedures to join the retiree medical care system, your medical expenses will be covered by the National Health Insurance.
An increase in the burden of medical expenses under the National Health Insurance will lead to an increase in your insurance tax. In order to ensure stable financial management of the National Health Insurance, those who are eligible for the retiree medical care system are requested to register for membership.
Those who meet all of the following conditions and their families (dependents) will receive medical care under the retiree medical care system until they reach the age of 65.
If there are dependents, the head of the household should notify the National Health Insurance Section of the Insurance and Pension Division.
A dependent is a person who lives with a retired insured person and maintains his/her livelihood mainly from the retired insured person's income, and who meets the following conditions.
The calculation method for insurance tax is the same as the calculation method for general National Health Insurance tax. If a National Health Insurance tax payment notice has already been sent, please pay according to the tax payment notice.
