When hazardous materials facilities are damaged by an earthquake or other disaster, it may be necessary to store or handle hazardous materials differently than usual. For such temporary storage and handling of hazardous materials during an earthquake (Proviso, Article 10, Paragraph 1 of the Fire Service Act), applications can be submitted by phone, etc., and approval can be obtained by consulting and completing the procedures in advance.

Note: Applications by telephone etc. are possible in the event of an earthquake, etc. and if the fire department deems it necessary.

(1) Any business or other entity planning to temporarily store or handle hazardous materials in the event of an earthquake or other disaster must consult in advance with the fire department regarding the details of such plans.
(2) Based on prior consultation, businesses and other entities will prepare implementation plans and submit them to the fire department.
(3) The fire department will accept the submitted implementation plan after checking the contents.
(4) After an earthquake or other disaster occurs, the business or other business must call or visit the fire department to apply for implementation in accordance with the implementation plan.
Applications by telephone, etc. are possible in the event of an earthquake or other disaster and if the Fire Department Headquarters deems it necessary.
(5) The fire department will review the contents of the implementation plan and promptly approve it.
