Last year, due to the actions of city employees, we were able to prevent two cases of wire fraud before they occurred, for which we received a letter of appreciation from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department addressed to city employees and Inagi City Hall, signed by the Deputy Commissioner.
One case involved a citizen inquiring with the city about a phone call requesting a wire transfer, during which we called for caution to avoid making the transfer and coordinated with the police to prevent the wire fraud.
The other case involved a report from Tama Central Police Station about a surge in wire fraud calls in the Hirao area, prompting city employees to visit an unmanned ATM in Hirao to alert citizens and prevent the wire fraud.
Moving forward, the city will continue to work towards creating a safe and secure community, focusing on measures against special frauds such as wire fraud and engaging in crime prevention activities.
