About the Specified Alien Species "Okinacea"

The daisy flower, which blooms from May to July, is a plant of the Asteraceae family with bright yellow flowers.
Tungsten lanceolata is a plant that has strong reproductive power and is driving out native species, and as a plant that may have a serious impact on the Japanese ecosystem, it is designated as a "specified alien species" by the Alien Species Act, and is cultivated, transported, and used. In principle, selling and releasing them outdoors is prohibited.

What is a Specified Alien Species?

Specified Alien Species are alien species (exotic species originating from overseas) that are designated as being harmful or potentially harmful to ecosystems, human life and bodies, agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
Based on the Alien Species Act, breeding, selling, storing, transporting, importing, transferring, selling, and releasing outdoors are prohibited in principle for those designated as Specified Alien Species.
Violation of the Alien Species Act can result in fines of up to 3 million yen or imprisonment for up to 3 years for individuals, and up to 100 million yen for corporations.

Features of the lanceolata

flower characteristics

・Cosmos-like shape, flower heads 5 to 7 cm in diameter (with one flower at the tip of the stem)
・The color of the petals (ray flower) is yellowish orange, and the central part of the flower (tubular flower) is the same color ・The tip of the petal is irregularly divided into 4 or 5

leaf characteristics

・Long spatulate, opposite (leaves on both sides of the stem)
・Both sides of the leaves have rough hairs, and the periphery of the leaves is smooth (no serrations)
・The width of the widest part of the leaf is about 1 cm. lobes oval

Please cooperate with the extermination of the lanceolata.

In order to conserve the ecosystem, please help us to get rid of the lanceolata if they are growing.

Removal method

1. Since it is a perennial plant, if the root remains, it will grow again, so pull it out from the base.
2. Place in a bag, seal tightly, and let dry without dropping seeds or roots.
3. Remove as much soil as possible and dispose of it as combustible garbage .
