We created a designer manhole cover

Updated: December 11, 2019

In Inagi City, as part of the "Mechanic Designer Kunio Okawara Project", "Gundam" that appears in the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam", "Magnum Ace" that appears in "Shippu! Iron Leaguer", and "Yatter One" that appears in "Yatterman" will be displayed. We created manhole covers with five different designs: ``Scope Dog'' from ``Armored Trooper Votoms,'' and ``Shinosuke Inagi,'' the city's official image character.
In addition to utilizing these designed manhole covers as tourism resources, we will also improve the ease of getting around the city by combining them with monuments and other items created in the project so far, promoting the attraction of tourists and revitalizing the region.
The design manhole covers we created this time were made with the support of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's 2019 Design Manhole Cover Installation and Utilization Promotion Project Subsidy.

About the design

“Gundam,” “Magnum Ace,” “Yatter One,” and “Scope Dog” were designed by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara. The blue line on the right represents the rich waters of the Misawa River, Daimaru Canal, and Tama River, and the green and brown parts at the bottom represent the rich greenery and nature.
“Inagi Nashinosuke” was designed by multi-creator Jet Inoue. In addition to the flow of water, the Tama Hills, and nature, it also depicts pears and grapes, which are local specialties.
