No. 51 Regarding the city hall arson incident

On November 30th last year, a very shocking incident occurred in which City Hall was set on fire. Around 2 p.m., a man who entered the first floor of City Hall on a moped was making a loud noise, so staff called the police. Because the man sprayed an oil-like liquid, the fire department was also notified and the fire hydrant's emergency bell was rung to notify everyone in the building of the danger of fire. When police arrived, a man opened fire, brandished a knife, stole a police car, and tried to flee, but was arrested by police on the premises.
In this incident, the staff gathered fire extinguishers at the time the man sprayed the liquid in preparation for the case of arson, and continued to operate the indoor fire hydrant to continue spraying water even after the extinguishant spray had run out. , we were able to keep the fire damage to a minimum and the fire was almost extinguished within a few minutes until firefighters arrived from the neighboring fire station. It was also a blessing in disguise that no civilians or staff were injured due to proper evacuation guidance provided by the staff.
We are proud that one of the reasons for these results is that many of our staff members are current or former members of the fire department.
This incident appears to be an unreasonable demand for the city's legitimate business, but no matter the reason, such despicable acts will never be tolerated.
In response to this incident, the city organized the Inagi City Hall Arson Investigation Committee, which recorded an overview of the incident and recovery efforts, and conducted a survey of employees, and based on the analysis results, future safety measures will be decided. We decided to strengthen it. The committee's verification report has been posted on the City Hall website.
By the way, City Hall, which is the center of city administration, must prepare to defend against such acts of violence. However, on the other hand, it is also an open facility visited by many citizens, making it difficult to take complete measures.
Immediately after the incident, we have deployed security guards for the time being, but in order to maintain the core functions of the city administration and to ensure that citizens can use the facility with peace of mind, we will be working on emergency response within the fiscal year and budgeting for the new fiscal year. We will take measures aimed at city hall.
Additionally, this incident has caused many employees to have unprecedented experiences. Immediately after the incident, we conduct stress checks on all employees and provide counseling, etc., as necessary. We will also strive to create an environment where our employees can work with peace of mind.
