About young carers

Last updated: December 4, 2024

Children and young people who are deemed to be providing excessive care for family members or other aspects of daily life are called young carers.

Young carers spend a lot of time looking after their family members, which can affect their studies and employment, but they may take the situation for granted and not realise how difficult it is.

To reduce the burden

  1. Those involved with the family notice the young carer.
  2. Introducing available services (long-term care insurance, services for people with disabilities, etc.)

is required.

"This child/young person may be a young carer"
"I think I might be a young carer"
If you think this may be the case, please contact the Child and Family Support Center (042-378-6366).
