The revised Health Promotion Act and the Tokyo Metropolitan Passive Smoking Prevention Ordinance have been fully enforced, and all facilities are now ``no smoking in principle.''
Smoking is not allowed except in designated areas. Persons under the age of 20 are not allowed to enter areas where smoking is permitted.
In order to prevent unwanted second-hand smoke, the government will prohibit smoking except in certain areas of facilities, depending on the classification of facilities that are used by many people, with particular consideration for children and patients whose health is particularly affected. It also stipulates the measures that administrators should take.
In order to protect employees who are in a position where it is difficult to prevent second-hand smoke and children who are susceptible to health effects, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has established its own new rules that are added to or added to the revised Health Promotion Act.
