Along with pears, the Takao grape is also popular as a specialty of Inagi.

This variety, named after Tokyo's famous mountain, Mt. Takao, is a large seedless grape whose parent is Kyoho, and its grains are shaped like rugby balls.

Harvest season starts from late August. Due to its high sugar content, good taste and aroma, and ease of eating, it is loved as a representative flavor of Inagi, along with pears.

In mid-August, flags fly high above the direct sales store.
There are nearly 70 direct sales stores for agricultural products in the city.
Every year, the event is extremely popular with people from inside and outside the city gathering to buy pears, grapes, vegetables, and more.

[Request] Regarding on-street parking

Many direct sales stores open in the city from August to October, which is the pear and grape harvest season.
We have many visitors, including from outside the city, and there is a lot of on-street parking for those who come by car.
On-street parking not only causes traffic congestion and hinders the passage of emergency vehicles, but also obstructs the passage of pedestrians and other people, which can lead to traffic accidents.
When coming to the farm store, please use public transportation whenever possible. If you come by car, please be considerate of neighboring residents and park in a paid parking lot.
We appreciate your cooperation so that Inagi City's specialty products can reach as many people as possible.

History of grape cultivation in Inagi City

The Takao grape is a variety developed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Agricultural Experiment Station in Tachikawa City in the 1950s. Although the quality is excellent, cultivation management is extremely difficult, so it has hardly become popular.

However, in Inagi City, farmers who fell in love with this grape began cultivating it around 1972 or 1971. In 1975, the ``Inagi City Takao Grape Research Group'' was established. Through repeated trial and error, things gradually got back on track, and now Inagi's Takao has become a well-established brand of gift grapes.
