There have been serious accidents in Japan where people have been injured or killed due to the explosion of old and corroded fire extinguishers. Do not touch old fire extinguishers that are deformed or damaged. Please consult the fire extinguisher manufacturer or fire extinguisher dealer.
Regardless of its service life, care must be taken if a fire extinguisher is corroded, damaged, or deformed. Check the installed fire extinguisher, paying attention to the following points:
・Is there any deformation, rust, or corrosion on the fire extinguisher body?
- Is the cap or hose joint loose, or is the safety plug removed?
・If the fire extinguisher has a pressure gauge, does the pointer indicate within the green range?
・Has the expiry date (useful life) indicated on the label passed?
・Avoid using in humid places, places exposed to direct sunlight, or near open flames.
・Place it in a place where it is easily visible and can be used in an emergency.
・Please be careful not to fall.
- Fire extinguishers that are no longer needed cannot be collected as municipal garbage.
・For the disposal of fire extinguishers, the Japan Fire Extinguisher Manufacturers Association cooperates with local distributors (specific counters) to recycle fire extinguishers, so please contact your local counter.
・You can search for a store near you from the website of Fire Extinguisher Recycling Promotion Center Co., Ltd.
