Local measurement results of air radiation dose in parks and green areas (updated on October 19, 2020)

　The measurement results to date have been stable and are below the Ministry of the Environment's standard value (0.23 microsieverts per hour). Radiation dose measurements have been suspended since 2017.
In addition, measurements near the monuments in Gosu Park were carried out once a year (in August), but since 2021, the values ​​have been stable and within standard values. In Tokyo, measurements of air radiation levels in the city have been suspended due to reasons such as the numbers at radiation monitoring posts in Shinjuku Ward, which had been set up before the Great East Japan Earthquake, dropping to pre-earthquake numbers. Masu. However, if any concerns arise, measurements will be resumed immediately.

We make decisions based on measurements taken at the closest location to the object (1 centimeter above the ground) while standing.

In 2012, when measurements were taken near the monuments in the park, a value of more than 0.23 microsieverts per hour was measured, so work was carried out to reduce the radiation dose by cleaning.
After cleaning the monument with a high-pressure washer and brushing, the radiation level was measured and confirmed to be below the standard (see "Past Measurement Results" for figures).
