Installation of automatic earthquake unlocking boxes

Last updated: July 1, 2024

What is an earthquake automatic unlocking box?

An earthquake automatic unlocking box is a storage box that automatically opens when it detects shaking that exceeds a set seismic intensity. It stores evacuation shelter keys, etc. inside, and can be used by voluntary disaster prevention organizations etc. in the event of a major earthquake. This allows local residents to open evacuation shelters.

The boxes are installed in 16 public facilities in Inagi City, and are set to unlock when they detect shaking of a seismic intensity of 6 or more. In the event of a major earthquake, you can open the box and set up a shelter using the key and shelter setup manual stored inside.
