The Inagi City Planning Council is an organization (affiliated organization that submits opinions) that investigates, deliberates, or proposes matters related to city planning based on the City Planning Act when the city and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government formulate city plans (plans for land use, improvement of urban facilities, and urban development projects for the sound development and orderly development of the city).
Urban planning is generally defined as ``a comprehensive plan aimed at unifying the composition of a city, developing streets and other public facilities, and rationalizing the use of land so that diversifying urban activities can fully function as one.'' As it determines the future shape of a city, it has a great impact on the lives of citizens.
For this reason, city planning decisions are not made solely by administrative bodies, but are decided after investigations, deliberations, and proposals by councils made up of academic experts, members of parliament, relevant administrative bodies, Tokyo Metropolitan Government employees, and city residents.
Based on the "Inagi City City Planning Council Ordinance", the members of the Inagi City City Planning Council consist of less than 12 people.
In addition to investigating and deliberating city planning proposals that the city intends to formulate, the Inagi City Planning Council can also research and deliberate on matters related to city planning in response to consultations from the mayor, and can make proposals regarding city planning to related administrative agencies.
