In the past, city-wide events such as industrial festivals and civic cultural festivals were held separately at different times. Meanwhile, in 1990, an event called Garden City Tama was held at Shiroyama Park (Kouyodai) under the initiative of UR and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, coinciding with the start of occupancy in the Tama New Town area.
After Garden City Tama was finally canceled in 1998, a citizen review committee was formed in 1999 to consider the nature of the citizen festival.
As a result, the ``1st Fureai Festival'' was held at Shiroyama Park in May 2001, based on opinions such as the important role that the festival plays as a new place for interaction between old and new residents. After that, based on the opinions of each department, in October 2002 the event was held jointly at Chuo Park as the ``1st I Town Eel Citizen Festival'' and has continued to this day, with this year marking the 15th time.
This time, we were able to hold the "Enjoyable Ninth Singing Choir 2016 Concert" held on October 2nd as part of the community festival Fureai Festival section. This was the third year for the 9th concert, and we have decided to continue holding it in the future by positioning it as a citizen festival concert.
In addition, the number of people wishing to participate in the Japanese Drum Contest is increasing year by year, and since there is a limit to the number of groups on stage that day, it will be held on a different date, October 10, 2016, and the number of categories will be increased from one to three. Expanded. In the "Elementary School Club Activities Division," 6 groups participated, and Setagaya Ward Higashi-Fukasawa Elementary School (Japanese Drum Team Kozakura) won the championship. In the "Youth Division," 4 organizations participated, and Shotoku Gakuen Junior and Senior High School won the championship. Five groups participated in the event, and Inagi's drum play won the championship, and they performed on the day of the civic festival.
I hope that by making it an open event not limited to Inagi City, we will be able to work hard against strong teams, and as a result, it will lead to an improvement in the level of Japanese drumming in Inagi. Let's all do our best to make Japanese drums known as Inagi.
Furthermore, the stage section was held at i Plaza Hall from November 5th to 6th, 2016. Including this, the civic festival has grown into a major event that lasts about a month.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of Inagi City becoming a city. As the 50th anniversary was just around the corner, we kept a low profile as a commemorative project, but we did announce the establishment of a city bird at the opening ceremony of the city festival.
A 10-person citizen meeting selected eight candidates for the city's bird, and a citizen vote was held from August 15th to September 15th, 2016. As a result, "Kestrel" was selected, receiving 281 votes (24%) out of a total of 1,148 votes. It is a symbolic bird that shows the richness of Inagi City's ecosystem, and no other nearby city has ever selected it, so I think it was a good selection that shows Inagi's originality.
The number of visitors to the civic festival is increasing year by year, and it has grown into an important business that contributes to the revitalization of the town. We will continue to work hard to make this a festival that will please even more customers as an event organized by the Citizens' Executive Committee for citizens.
