On August 24th, at the Regional Promotion Plaza, Mr. Akitoshi Muraoka [Representative Director and President, Yomiuri Shimbun Co., Ltd., Tokyo Head Office], Mr. Tsukasa Imamura [Representative Director and President, Yomiuri Giants Co., Ltd.], and Mr. Retsu Mizoguchi [Representative Director, Yomiuri Land Co., Ltd.] President and CEO], we signed a ``Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement to Promote Regional Revitalization (Regional Development) by Realizing the TOKYO GIANTS TOWN Concept'' and made a press announcement.
This partnership agreement aims to achieve the sustainable development of the region (regional revitalization) and achieve the "TOKYO GIANTS TOWN concept" by mutually collaborating and cooperating while utilizing the respective resources of Inagi City and the three companies. The aim is to contribute to the creation of value and increase the attractiveness of the region by promoting local education, culture, and sports.
Specifically, the new GIANTS baseball stadium, whose groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 6th and construction work is progressing within the Nanzan East Land Readjustment Project site, will be the core, as well as the existing facilities of the adjacent Yomiuri Land and the new stadium. The project aims to promote regional development and revitalization by working together with various facilities in the surrounding area, including the aquarium that will be built next door.
Although this concept was originally a business plan of a private company, it is completely consistent with the town development concept of Inagi City's hill area development and land readjustment project in the eastern part of Nanzan, and the city is fully engaged in areas where the city can cooperate as an administrative body. We will back up the information.
In the future, the south exit rotary of Inagi Station and Keio Yomiuriland Station on the Keio Sagamihara Line will be redeveloped, and the city planning road will be opened at an early date to attract a new bus route connecting Inagi Station, Keio Yomiuriland Station, and Yomiuriland main gate. We will also work on this. These will not only alleviate traffic congestion and ensure safety for visitors to TOKYO GIANTS TOWN, but will also improve the convenience of citizens' lives by creating a new route through the hills of Minamiyama.
By the way, when ``Yomiuri Land Co., Ltd.'' expanded into Inagi City, it was originally called ``Kanto Race Club Co., Ltd.''. Yomiuri Public Course (golf course) was opened in November 1960, Yomiuri Land (amusement park) was opened in March 1960, Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club (golf course) was opened in April of the same year, and the head office was moved to Chiyoda in May of the same year. Moved from Otemachi, Minamitama District to Inagi Town, Minamitama District. There used to be an off-road bike circuit in the Nanzan area, but since then the business has expanded and surrounding facilities have expanded to include golf courses, amusement parks, golf driving ranges, hot bath facilities, geriatric health facilities, hospitals, indoor amusement park areas, indoor flower gardens, etc. Maintenance has been carried out.
It is no exaggeration to say that Inagi City has developed along with the expansion of Yomiuri Land's business. I hope that this comprehensive agreement will allow us to collaborate even more closely and build a win-win relationship for citizens, governments, and businesses.
The new Giants stadium is scheduled to open at the end of next fiscal year, March 2020, and the grand opening, including the aquarium, is scheduled for sometime in 2020.
