Regarding mandatory liability insurance for bicycle users

From April 1, 2020, in accordance with the "Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance on Promotion of Safe and Proper Use of Bicycles," all people who use bicycles in Tokyo are required to have personal liability insurance (in case you injure another person). It becomes compulsory to take out insurance to protect you.
If you are already covered by car insurance, fire insurance specials, credit card benefits, etc., you do not need to take out new insurance, so please check your insurance status first.
