Temporary Living Support Project to Counter Rising Prices

Last updated: June 27, 2024

In Tokyo, in order to ease the anxiety of households that are not subject to resident tax, which have been particularly hard hit by rising prices, a temporary living support project will be implemented to combat rising prices, providing each household with gift certificates worth 10,000 yen.

subject

  1. Households exempt from resident tax in fiscal year 2023 or households subject to resident tax per capita only
  2. Households that will be newly exempt from resident tax or will be taxed only on a per capita basis in fiscal year 2024

Note: This project is aimed at households that qualify for the Temporary Priority Support Grant (70,000 yen or 100,000 yen per household).
Note: This excludes households in which all members are supported by a taxpayer and households receiving welfare benefits that have a taxpayer in the household.

How to apply

Eligible households will receive notifications from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government from late July onwards. Based on applications from eligible households (notes), gift certificates and other items will be delivered by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in approximately five weeks.
Note: You can apply using the application postcard enclosed with the notice or via the dedicated website listed on the notice.
