Callers claim to be employees of the National Health Insurance Section of City Hall and try to defraud people of money by telling them things like, ``We have a refund for past medical expenses.Did you see the notice we sent you previously?'' An incident is occurring.
These calls have characteristics such as ``calling with anonymous setting,'' ``hanging up unilaterally if you tell them that you are not enrolled in National Health Insurance,'' and ``asking for your mobile phone number.''
These are typical bank transfer scams in which the perpetrator says, ``I'll show you how to receive your refund using your mobile phone,'' but ultimately tricks the criminal into transferring the money to his or her account. You will never receive a call like this from City Hall regarding medical expense reimbursement.
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and report it to the police.
