Even if you are injured in a traffic accident, you can receive medical treatment under National Health Insurance. However, as a general rule, the perpetrator (third party) is responsible for all medical expenses unless the victim is at fault.
When you receive treatment under the National Health Insurance, the National Health Insurance will temporarily cover the cost and later bill the perpetrator on your behalf.
(1) Be sure to report it to the police.
(2) Contact the City Hall National Health Insurance Section (telephone 042-378-2111 extension 144, 145, 146).
(3) Submit a “Notification of Injury or Sickness Caused by a Third Party Act” to the National Health Insurance Section of the city hall.
(For the documents required for submission, please check the "Documents Required for Third-Party Actions" on the "Application Form Download" page .)
