In 1986, the city conducted a survey on the use of asbestos in buildings owned by the city, such as government buildings, elementary and junior high schools, and cultural centers, and based on the results, carried out removal work in an effort to ensure the safety of the facilities. I am.
Subsequently, in line with the revision of asbestos-related laws and regulations, we conducted a survey of city-owned buildings to ensure the safety of spraying materials containing asbestos.
As a result of the initial drawing survey and site reconnaissance conducted, it was found that there were no facilities using "sprayed asbestos," which has a high scattering property, but "sprayed rock wool," which requires confirmation of whether or not it contains asbestos, was found to be in use. ” and “other sprayed materials (such as sprayed vermiculite)” were found to be used in 7 and 6 facilities, respectively. As a result of conducting an asbestos content survey in fiscal 2008, it was confirmed that none of these facilities contained asbestos.
However, when we conducted another survey to investigate the presence of asbestos in the design commission for the large-scale renovation work of the Second Cultural Center that was carried out in 2012, we found that Asbestos exceeding the standard value of 0.1% by weight of asbestos was detected in the ``sprayed rock wool'' found at the site.
Therefore, the city immediately reviewed the previous investigation and conducted another asbestos content investigation, and as a result, we reconfirmed that asbestos was not contained in any other facilities except for the large hall (Ohiroma) on the second floor of the Second Cultural Center. I did.
Furthermore, during the large-scale renovation work carried out in 2013, the ``sprayed rock wool'' in the large hall (Ohiroma) on the second floor of the Second Cultural Center was appropriately removed and disposed of in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
