A disposer (garbage pulverizer) is a device that pulverizes kitchen waste, such as vegetable scraps and fish bones, into small pieces and flushes them into the sewer pipes along with water.
If a disposer is used alone, the leftover food waste may rot and cause a foul odor, or may clog drain pipes or sewer mains in residential areas or condominiums.
Additionally, if garbage flows into the wastewater along with regular sewage, it can exceed the processing capacity of sewage treatment plants and cause deterioration of water quality in public water areas.
Due to the above problems, the city does not allow the installation of stand-alone disposers .
The city does not allow the installation of a stand-alone disposer, but a ``disposer wastewater treatment system'' that comes with a wastewater treatment device can be installed.
However, this is limited to certified products that have been evaluated to comply with the "Performance Standards for Disposer Wastewater Treatment Systems (Draft)" created by the Japan Sewage Works Association.
When installing this system, please notify the Sewerage Division.
When installing and using a disposer treatment system, the following documents must be submitted .
