Nozawa Onsen Village is located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, bordering Kijimadaira Village to the south, Iiyama City to the west, and Sakae Village to the north and east.
The population is 3,442 (as of March 1, 2020) and the area is 57.96 square kilometers.

With a maximum running distance of 10 kilometers, an altitude difference of 1,085 meters, and a maximum gradient of 39 degrees, this ski resort has hosted numerous ski competitions, including the Nagano Olympics.
