Mayors for Peace Tokyo Tama Regional Peace Network

The Mayors for Peace Tokyo-Tama Area Peace Network is made up of 26 cities in the Tama area of Tokyo that are affiliated with Mayors for Peace's domestic member cities. The Mayors for Peace has set a new goal of "promotion of a culture of peace" in its action plan for 2025 (PX Vision), and the 26 cities of Tama are implementing initiatives aimed at "promotion of a culture of peace." In order to instill in each citizen the awareness of thinking and acting for peace in their daily lives, we have formed an inter-municipal network in the Tama region of Tokyo, and through mutual information sharing and exchange between municipalities, we are promoting a culture of peace throughout the Tama region. We, the Mayors for Peace Tokyo-Tama Regional Peace Network, are committed to promoting a culture of peace, which is set out in the Mayors for Peace's "Vision for Peaceful Change towards a Sustainable World." We declare that we will work together with the Miyako-Tama region.
1. We will establish a ``peace culture'' in the Tama area of Tokyo, where each citizen wishes for peace and thinks about and acts on what they can do in their daily lives, and foster peace awareness in civil society.

The 26 cities of Tama will share and disseminate information about peace initiatives and war sites being implemented in each city, with the aim of encouraging citizens of the Tama region to participate in each other's projects and visit war sites.

[Hino City] Peace Gathering - Connecting to the Future, Hino City Declares Itself a Nuclear Weapon-Free, Peaceful City -

The lecture will explain the origins of the Peace Declaration, and the content of the lecture will be explained in an easy-to-understand manner for children, using graphic recording (annotations), a first for Hino City. About 40 years ago, as nuclear deployment spread around the world, the Peace Declaration was created in Hino City, with the hope for lasting world peace and peaceful daily life. Come and think about peace together, as you experience the unfading hopes of Hino citizens at that time.
(Note) Graphic recording is a method of deepening understanding and empathy by capturing and illustrating not only what has been said, but also thoughts and feelings that have not yet been put into words.

[Hachioji City] The 39th Peace Exhibition - The feelings we want to convey to children -

Hachioji City will hold the "39th Peace Exhibition - A Message We Want to Share with Children" at three locations in the city. In addition to exhibits such as photo panels related to the Hachioji air raid and pictures of a "peaceful town" drawn by elementary and junior high school students in the city, there will also be talks by people who experienced the Hachioji air raid. [Machida City] Summer Peace Event

Every year, we hold a "Summer Peace Event" to provide an opportunity to think about the horrors of war and the value of peace, and to pass these stories on to future generations. In 2024, the event will be held at the Machida City Lifelong Learning Center from August 6th to 10th. Please see the website for details.

Part 1: Artists' War. A curator from the Machida City Museum of Prints will introduce artists who were at the mercy of the war and their expressions with slides of their works. Part 2: We will explore the relationship between war and music while listening to a performance by pianist Takayuki Ezawa.

[Hamura City] Peace Awareness Project for 2024

Hamura City is carrying out peace awareness projects to ensure that the horrific experiences of the war are not forgotten, that citizens can sense the "preciousness of peace" in their daily lives, and that it provides an opportunity for them to think about peace.

[Higashikurume City] 2024 Higashikurume City Peace Project Peace Materials Exhibition "Tokyo Air Raid Experience Drawings"

Higashikurume City will hold the "2024 Higashikurume City Peace Project Peace Materials Exhibition: Drawings of the Tokyo Air Raid Experience" at Higashikurume City Hall on August 1st and 2nd. The exhibition will include "Drawings of the Tokyo Air Raid Experience" on loan from the Sumida Local Culture Museum, war-related materials from the city's Lifelong Learning Division (Local History Materials Room) titled "Traces of War in Higashikurume City," and books on peace from the city's library. We hope that as many people as possible will come to see the exhibition and be reminded of the devastation of the time and think again about peace. Please come and visit.

[Fuchu City] Peace Awareness Project for 2024

Fuchu City will hold a peace gathering and peace exhibition to allow its citizens to learn and think about peace and pass it on to future generations.
At the Peace Gathering, participants will mainly be high school students and younger, and will think about peace through dialogue with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Afghanistan, Armenia, Ukraine, and East Turkestan.
The event will be divided into two parts. In the first half, there will be a talk session on "Culture that leads to peace." In the second half, each group of guests will split into booths and hold group talks with the participants.
The peace exhibition will feature "Atomic Bomb Paintings," a collaborative work between Motomachi High School students and atomic bomb survivors, on loan from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, as well as atomic bomb photographs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on loan from Hino City, and will screen the DVD "The Day We Lost the Sun."

[Chofu City] Chofu City's peace initiatives, Chofu City Peace Exhibition

Chofu City will hold a "Peace Exhibition" to provide an opportunity to learn about and think about the reality of damage caused by war and war and peace from various angles.
In addition to valuable materials borrowed from Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Osaka and other places that convey the horrors of war, the exhibition will also feature war materials from Chofu City Local Museum.

[Higashiyamato City] The 20th Peace Citizens' Gathering

On Saturday, August 17th, Higashiyamato city will be holding the 20th Peace Citizens' Gathering at the Peace Square in Higashiyamato Minami Park, where a war-damaged building (the former Hitachi Aircraft Ltd. substation) stands, and at Higashiyamato Rondo Minna no Gymnasium, in order to raise awareness of peace and to reaffirm the importance of peace.
We also hold events such as special substation open days and peace concerts.
I hope that as many people as possible will come and see this film and take it as an opportunity to think again about peace.

[Fussa City] 2024 "Peace Gathering"

Fussa City holds a "Peace Gathering" every August.
As part of the "Showa Era Recounted by Citizens," we will have citizens give lectures about their childhood experiences, such as military training and labor service.
You can enjoy songs with themes of peace and the Showa era performed by the piano and vocal unit "4pc (Four Piece)."

[Kunitachi City] Lecture by a person who experienced the Kunitachi atomic bomb and the Great Tokyo air raids

Based on the city development philosophy of "valuing people," Kunitachi City established the "Kunitachi City Peace City Declaration" in June 2000. In 2016, June 21st, the date the "Kunitachi City Peace City Declaration" was established, was designated as "Kunitachi Peace Day."
The Kunitachi Atomic Bomb and Great Tokyo Air Raid Experience Transmitters' Lectures are given by the Kunitachi Atomic Bomb and Great Tokyo Air Raid Experience Transmitters, who have been commissioned by the city to pass on the experiences and thoughts about peace of survivors of the Hiroshima Atomic Bombing, Nagasaki Atomic Bombing, and Great Tokyo Air Raids who live in the city and pass them on to the next generation. [Akiruno City] Peace Panel Exhibition

From August 7th to 15th, Akiruno City will be holding a panel exhibition to encourage people to think about peace, featuring prewar, wartime, and postwar photos taken from the photo collections "Akigawa's 100 Years" and "Itsukaichi's 100 Years." In addition, we will be distributing a booklet entitled "Records of War Experiences by City War Survivors," which was created in August 2018, to publicize these valuable experiences. [Tama City] The 33rd Tama City Peace Exhibition

"Are you okay with this world where there is war?"
This is the catchphrase for this peace exhibition, thought up by high school students who have been past participants in the Tama City Children's Atomic Bombing Areas Dispatch Program.
The theme of this year's peace exhibition is "How can we pass on peace to generations that have never experienced war?" and it will use a variety of forms of expression, including film screenings, art pieces, pantomime, and essays written by children, to convey the importance of living in peace every day.
In addition, we will be distributing a workbook called "Drawing Peace with Keith Haring" to children who visit for a limited time and in limited numbers.

[Higashimurayama City] The 2024 Nuclear Weapon Abolition and Peace Exhibition strongly appeals for the abolition of nuclear weapons and world peace

On September 25, 1987, Higashimurayama City declared itself a "Nuclear Weapon-Free Peace City" with the hope of abolishing nuclear weapons and achieving lasting peace.
We are holding the "Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Peace Exhibition" to allow people to experience the horror of nuclear weapons and the preciousness of peace, and to pass this on to future generations.
