Protect your life from fire! residential fire alarm

Last updated: September 7, 2023

In Inagi City, the Fire Prevention Ordinance has made it mandatory to install residential fire alarms in all homes since April 1, 2010.
As of fiscal year 2023, the installation rate of residential fire alarms in Inagi City is approximately 95%, but there are still homes that have not been installed.
There have been many reported cases where installing residential fire alarms has been effective in notifying residents of a fire early, allowing them to evacuate and put out the fire in its early stages.
To protect your precious lives and property from home fires, install them immediately if you have not done so already.

Please properly maintain and manage installed residential fire alarms!

Clean it regularly

If a residential fire alarm has dust or spider webs on it, it will become difficult to detect a fire. If dirt is noticeable, wipe it off with a dry cloth or a cloth soaked in water and wrung out thoroughly.

Let's test

Please test it about once a month to confirm operation.
You can check whether the alarm sounds by pressing the button or pulling the pull cord on a residential fire alarm.

A case where a fire did not break out because a residential fire alarm was installed.

Case 1
Because he went out without making sure the cigarette butts were gone, a large amount of cigarette butts accumulated in the ashtray began to smolder, and the smoke set off the residential fire alarm, which was alerted by a neighbor who called 911. When the fire brigade entered the building, it was on the verge of catching fire.

Case 2
The person had fallen asleep in a separate room with the stove on, and the neighbor heard the alarm and called 911. The fire brigade came in and extinguished the stove, so there was no fire.

Case 3
While sleeping with the electric stove on, the futon came into contact with the stove and smoke came out, filling the room. I woke up to the sound of an alarm installed in the kitchen, poured water into the kettle from the kitchen, and was on the verge of starting a fire.
